Birthday ruminations

As I start to humbly take another orbit around the sun with this wonderful earth and all its gracious inhabitants, I cannot help but reflect on these precious lessons life and sorrow has taught me.

1. If you are grateful for what you have, you will receive more to be grateful for.

2. Human effort can only take you so far. What determines whether you cross the line or not is grace, are prayers.

3. Have the attitude of a beginner. Be child-like.

4. You gotta have a goal in life, whatever crap it might be. Iterate and make it closer to your heart as you grow. But have one at all times nevertheless. Never be caught unawares if someone asks you what your goal in life is.

5. You are richer by the friendships you make, by the number of people that pray for you, by the strength of your convictions, and by the openness of your being.

6. It is harder to hate than to love. It is harder to be non-forgiving that to be forgiving.

7. You don’t have to specialize in life, you can just know a bit about lot of things and still do very well in life. All you have to do is to strive is to uncover the most important things in life.

8. You have more patience than you think you have. Push yourself that one extra step every time, all the time.

9. Fail fast, move on. Don’t ever lie to yourself. Accept yourself as a failure rather than live believing that you are a winner. Acceptance turns things around.

10. When I was feeling my heart the other day, it occured to me that my heart will stop beating one day. That day is not far. What was born will die too. If you want to beat this shit in its own game, you gotta find that what will never die. Let this pursuit keep you on your toes.

Love,
Rahul
